Over this Winter break I want to accomplish many things. The first of those things will be to catch up on sleep:) Secondly, I want to hangout with all my friends as much I possibly can!! I'm very excited to go see Tron with my boyfriend and my best friend this coming weekend. I also can't wait to Christmas shopping and to give presents to my family. I plan to stay in town during break, so I have a lot of relaxation time avaible to me:)
This 16 day break is something I have been looking forward to for the past two weeks. The only thing that makes me sad is that I won't be able to see my friends as much, or with a guarntee that I will see them everyday. I am excited for sleep, seeing my boyfriend and my friends, also going Christmas shopping!!!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS

I chose the poem "Famous" for a couple of main reasons. One of those being that people call my boyfriend Famous, so it is nice to be reminded of him:) Another reason was the context of the poem. It states things that are so complex in the simplest terms. For example, "the loud voice is famous to the silence". Things can be completely opposite from eachother and be "famous" in each others world. Things however, can also enhance eachothers world and bring new insight to them, making the relevant occurance famous.
I love this poem. I didn't do it for the length or the style, I did it for the context of the poem. It explains opposites in a new way that hadn't been brought up before, at least not to me. It's fasincating to think about how things such as noise greatly impact another world, so to speak. It truly is remarkable to consider how everything in the world is enhanced or even tarnished by other occurances.
The poem I chose is one that I will love to remember and will hopefully never forget. It simplifies things and makes you think in a new fashion. It not only widenes your thinking range, but also enlightens your thought process as is. I hope I do okay on the recitation. I hate doing this sort of thing and hope I don't mess up!!

Parts 4 and 5:)
I watched the Bilingual/Bilingüe. She really emphasized the content of her poem. It came off as "preachy" to me. I think she rehearsed to much and didn't go with her natural flow. Overall I do think it was a sucessful proformance on the otherhand. She didn't pause for memorization and she acted confident. I also watched Writ on the Steps of Puerto Rican Harlem. It was an overall good proformance. He acted very confident and sure of himself. However, he seemed a little over done and fake. Based on his proformance he did a great job.
I think the competition is going to be fierce haha. It will be full of people who are confident with the fact that their own personalities can bring their poem to life. If you are not confident then you will not make it very far in this competition. I honestly can't wait until it is over. I hate reciting things, especailly in front of a group of people. I just want a good grade and then to be done. I want to memorize "A Red, Red Rose" it is such a beautiful poem that can warm anyone's heart. I think the website is actually kind of cool. It is nice to see videos of others proforming and to see their ability to suceed.

I read the poems, "A Red, Red Rose" by Robert Burns, "A Noiseless Patient Spider" by Walt Whitman, "A Supermarket in California" by Allen Ginsberg, "Break of Day" by John Donne, and finally "Dancers Exercising" by Amy Clampitt. I enjoyed reading "A Red, Red Rose" mainly because it is such a well known poem that everyone has heard of and it is such a simply sweet poem. I also enjoyed "A Noiseless Patient Spider". I enjoyed that poem because it is, in my opinion, a complex poem, while being short and easy to comprehend. I say that is it complex, yet easy to understand because it is, again in my opinion, a lot of great ideals in a compact way, so you don't get lost.
I didn't like "A Supermarket in California" however. It was very extended, not in the length, but in the content. It seems to drag on and repeats its ideals. I also didn't like the content at all. It was boring and unappealing. I also didn't like "Break of Day" and "Dancers Exercising". Their titles seems appealing to me, but I was disappointed. They truly were not well written in my opinion. I could have not read them and went on with my life...just saying :p. They repeated themselves and their ideals weren't fully connected to the content of the poem as a whole. If I had to choose one of the poems I read today for Poetry Outloud I would chose "A Red, Red Rose". It is a simply sweet poem, as I previously stated, and puts into a good mode:). I truly enjoy it and will possibly chose it for Poetry Outloud, if that is possible.
The two criteria that will be hardest for me will be to relax and act natural followed by eye contact and avoiding nervous gestures. I have terrible stage fright and hate speaking/reciting things in front of a group of people. I will have an easy time with memorization and remembering line breaks. When I can focus alone I usually remember things very well. The scoring criteria mainly focuses on posture, memorization, and relaxing/projecting to the audience. If you understand and follow these guidelines then you will do very well in the competition.
